Grace is the part of you that can be found in the way you carry your body, in the way to speak ,in your compassionate heart, and in the steadiness of your pose.  Now you might be wondering, what does all of that have to do with Everyday Excellence?  How can having Grace help me to succeed in fulfilling my goals?

Today’s world does not spend a lot of time on Grace.  Most of us are wrapped up in a fast paced world with a dog eat dog attitude that acts to serve the Self or the Ego and has very little regard for others.  It is true that there are many people that work this way and are successful.  Or at least they appear to be successful. What values you have will determine the quality of your success and your happiness.  The truth is that Grace comes down to quality.  You can have success that is ego driven, however it will only last a short time before you are feeling unfulfilled or like something is missing.  Success without Grace is like shouting out loud without making a sound…it’s empty.

Grace is a quality that cannot be captured, bought, studied or understood.  It is something that is cultivated over time and experienced through surrendering to the flow of the Infinite.  Let us not confuse Grace with the lack of strength or power, or the inability to provoke and stand up for what we belief in.  All things can flow though Grace, the difference is in our actions and the words we choose.  In the state of Grace we can draw from all parts of our personality that are required without having to react or feel constrained by our ego.  Grace is what helps us decipher between what is needed in the moment and what is our own agenda, than elevates it so that it is uplifting for all involved.

As we work towards our success and everyday excellence we will inevitably bump into obstacles.  When we come from a place of Grace we are able to maintain our strength and peace even when we feel we don’t have it.  That is the power of Grace.  When we leave out Grace we lack the compassion necessary to elevate our situation and bring our goals to a higher level of understanding and consciousness.

To be in a state of Grace requires a person to have a handle on their Ego.  Try the grace test below and see what areas you can work on to enhance your own inner state of Grace.

  1. Do you pray to stay alive or do you live in an ongoing prayer?
  2. Can you maintain Grace in the face of challenge/crisis/or under pressure?
  3. Can you be kind in your heart and compassionate in your mind when by your personal standards it seems impossible to do so?
  4. Do you struggle with intolerance?

Like the ocean that encounters many surfaces, hard ridge rocks or soft flowing sand,  so too can our own ego give way to the persistent flow of waves from the infinite, creating a surface that elevates itself to a state of ever flowing Grace.
